Barron falls in the dry seasonThere are various great walks near the hostel ranging from short strolls along the Barron River or Jum Rum Creek, to several hours into Barron Gorge.

The Barron river
You can start with a stroll along the beautiful Barron River where you may get a glimpse of freshwater crocodiles, turtles, platypus, birds and butterflies.

Marvel at the Barron Falls, just a short walk from the hostel.
 

Another walk close to the hostel is to Jum Rum Creek.
Take an hour to walk through the idyllic tropical scenery of an ancient rainforest.

Suprise Creek

Barron Gorge For longer walks, trek through the Barron Gorge to Surprise and Stoney Creeks where
you'll stand atop of a 240m waterfall with magical views of Cairns and the gorge.
Walking upstream at Surprise Creek you will come across picturesque waterfalls and some of the best swimming spots you'll ever see, surrounded by amazing ancient rainforest.
